Airsoft Guns - History of the Emergence of Airsoft Guns

airsoft guns

Airsoft Guns or BB Guns, a realistic looking toy guns, to add realism and other airsoft gear used to play airsoft sport where players simulate military or law enforcement combat. According to researchers the history of "airsoft guns " originated introduced in Japan during the mid-1970s, mainly because it was illegal to own firearms by private individuals, so those interested in guns had to resort to the only weapons which closely resembled them, and that alternative was airsoft guns.

The first airsoft guns available were spring-powered replicas of firearms that fired 6mm, plastic pellets which were called BB guns by Asian manufacturers. Because of this, it is no surprise that airsoft guns are actually very popular in East Asian countries such as China, Hong Kong, Korea, Taiwan and the Philippines and airsoft gunsbecause of firearm restrictions in these countries (North Korea is more interested in using real guns!). Now, airsoft guns have been developed in three type, there are : spring airsoft guns, electric airsoft guns, and gas airsoft guns.

As you might have guessed this is the type of weapon used in paintball wars (game). Unlike paintballl, airsoft is incredibly hard to tell if somebody has been hit. Because airsoft guns do not make any splatters on the skin or clothes, and unless the person screams in agony or pain, you will not know if they are hit by airsoft guns. That is why the game of airsoft relies on the "Honor System", where players lift their gun up and say, "Hit".

The popularity of airsoft guns in the United States and Europe began in the mid-1990s. Mattel, the famous American toy company had already marketed airsoft guns product called "Shootin Shells" way back in the 1950s. These airsoft guns were identical to the spring driven pellet guns and had Stik-M-Caps that explode to emulate the sound of gunfire. In the 1980s, Daisy BB Gun Company manufactured spring airsoft gun models called Replisoft and Soft Air shot at each other by opposing players. In 2003, Daisy started manufacturing and marketing airsoft guns once again, "Powerstrike" is the brand name used by the company. Other manufacturers are following in Daisy's footsteps and a host of different models have entered the United States airsoft gun market.

European countries started to use airsoft guns in an innovative way to combat young gang members, on the other hand American companies started air soft gunsdeveloping and producing such airsoft guns for sports because the guns are realistic and the BB guns don't hurt as much as 0.5 caliber paint balls. Because of the non-lethal nature of airsoft guns they are constantly used by military and law enforcement agencies to simulate real world combat situations in order to train their agents. The airsoft guns which are used and sold to these agencies are not available for sale to the public because they are considered too realistic for people to carry around. Airsoft guns are also used in movie sets because they resemble real weapons extremely. Well, however, this innovation did come with a price, during the early 90's when the airsoft guns were being used in this industry there were fatal accidents which lead to the death of Bruce Lee's son after one of these airsoft guns were loaded with real rounds instead of blanks.

There are several ways to use airsoft guns, but whether it is for entertainment or any other reason, it is always recommended to have a balanced adult supervising people who carry airsoft guns as well as studying the laws which explain the responsibilities which come by owning airsoft guns.
