Airsoft Guns - Type

Airsoft Guns divided into three main types, there are Airsoft Spring Guns, Airsoft Gas Guns and Electric Airsoft Guns.

Airsoft Spring Guns

Airsoft spring guns differ from the airsoft gas guns and electric airsoft guns, because they cannot be automatic or semi-automatic. Airsoft spring guns are spring-cocked, meaning that the user has to cock the spring by pulling back the slide or bolt before each shot is required. Airsoft spring guns are usually cheap and readily available, but can get very expensive if they fire at a high FPS. Though they may not be very suitable for close combat competitions, they are widely used for "sniper" and "marksman" functions.

Airsoft Gas Guns

Airsoft gas guns are the most powerful. Compressed gases like propane and HFC134a refrigerant are commonly used to propel airsoft gas guns, and gases supported include carbon dioxide, propane, green gas, red gas, and high pressure air (HPA). Advantages to airsoft gas guns include adjustable velocities and blowback features. In most cases, CFC-free gas is used. Some do require a more powerful type of gas, so beware when you are purchasing your GBB. Onboard or magazine stored gas storage systems are used in gas blowback guns or GBBs, using the same compressed air that propels the pellet to pull back the slide. Hence, this feature in airsoft gas guns makes them capable of automatic or semi-automatic fire. You will always want to use the right type of gas because it will damage the gun and could cause harm to yourself. People purchase airsoft gas guns because they are more accurate than any other type. They are also heavier and have more detail for design than the other airsoft spring guns and electric airsoft guns. Airsoft gas guns are not for beginners because they are more difficult to handle and care for. This is more of an automatic, machine gun.

Electric Airsoft Guns

Electric airsoft guns are the most popular and the hottest automatic airsoft guns that use a motor to push back the spring between shots with a rate of fire of up to 1000 rounds per minute . Originally developed in Japan during the late 1990s, an automatic or electric airsoft guns use electrical power from an onboard battery to drive a motor that turns gears inside the airsoft guns to compress and release a piston. Also known as AEG, but are generally not very powerful unless upgraded. Electric airsoft guns are good for both of experts and beginners, especially for beginners. This piston creates a blast of air that propels the BB. AEGs are widely used in competitions today.
